Father Christmas visiting Adderbury this Friday evening

Published: 13/12/2017 10:00 AM

As the village Christmas countdown continues the young people of Adderbury have good reason to be excited this Friday evening: Father Christmas will be travelling around the village between 6 and 9pm.

The annual tour of Banbury and the surrounding villages is organised by volunteers from Banbury Cross Round Table. The first visit of 2017 was made in Hanwell Fields on December 3 and since then has visited Bodicote, Cherwell Heights and Grimsbury, amongst others. This year Round Tablers have battled the snow and freezing conditions of the last few days to ensure everyone gets a chance to see Santa.

This year Banbury Cross Round Table have partnered with 1st Adderbury Scouts for Friday’s trip to Adderbury. The Scouts and their parents will be collecting door to door around the route with the funds raised shared between the Scout Group and the Round Table’s chosen local charities.

Father Christmas will set off from the King Sutton turn in Twyford at 6pm and then head into Margaret’s Road, Walton Avenue, Deene Close, The Rise and Rochester Way. After a trip down the Oxford Road the float will head to Keytes Close and then Lake Walk. Santa and his helpers will then move through Adderbury down the High Street and into Round Close Road and Manor Road before concluding the route by 9pm in St Mary’s Road.

Strict licensing rules mean the float can only be operational between 6 and 9pm and the organisers therefore have to accept that not all roads can be covered in the time. However Banbury Cross Round Table have launched a “Santa Tracker” app so those not directly on the route can find Father Christmas themselves. The app can be found at:http://banbury.roundtablesanta.co.uk
