Annual Parish Meeting Presentations: Working For Adderbury Community

Published: 11/04/2019 9:00 PM

At next Tuesday’s Annual Parish Meeting a presentation on the proposed development of sports pitches and a community facility on the Milton Road site will be given by Jackie Head, Chairman of Working For Adderbury Community (WFAC). Ahead of the meeting Adderbury News has invited Mrs Head to give a preview of what will be covered on the night:

“Two years ago Adderbury village voted by a significant majority in a Parish Poll to go ahead with the development of the Milton Road site to have community, sports and recreational facilities. Since then the Working For Adderbury Community group {WFAC} have made considerable progress working alongside the Parish Council to achieve this.

The funding for the project will be partly met using the Section 106 monies which Cherwell District Council have received from housing development. There is not enough money however to complete the project and the remainder will be found by major fundraising activity, especially grant applications.

All of this takes time and a considerable amount of effort has been spent researching potential users and visiting other village community venues to understand the process. This information is being used to develop a credible, conservative business plan which is currently being progressed.

Village support for fundraising events so far has been very encouraging. Last year we achieved a figure of £10000 in 8 months and this year our target is in the region of £15000. We are proud of the fact that we have also been able to donate money to FOSMA, FOCAL, Christopher Rawlins School and Katherine House Hospice as part of our strong commitment to the whole of the Adderbury community.

As part of the entire leisure project WFAC will also provide the PC and villagers with ideas on the development of the Lucy Plackett area.

WFAC will give a brief update on the Milton Rod project and provide initial designs for the community building at the Annual Parish Meeting on Tuesday 16th April at 7.30pm in the Methodist schoolroom.

We are always delighted to welcome new members and ideas and if you would like further information or have any questions please do get in touch by contacting Jackie Head, Chair of WFAC, email: jaxhead51@aol.com.”
